How do I set up a hitch climber pulley?

    *    Attach the main line: Clip one carabiner through your main climbing
line. Secure the carabiner gate. Creating a loop.
*    Position the pulley: Slide the pulley down the line until it sits
just below your prusik hitch. The pulley should hang freely with some space between it and the prusik.
*    Secure the prusik cord: Clip the other carabiner through the bottom
hole of the pulley. Opening and secure carabiner tightly to your harness bridge.

Is a cambium saver necessary when tree climbing?

While not strictly necessary for every climb, a friction saver offers significant benefits for both the tree and your rope. It reduces friction and wear on the bark, protecting sensitive cambium layers. For climbers, it eases ascents and descents, saving your arms and energy. Whether it's essential depends on various factors like tree species, climb style, and personal preference. Consider it a valuable tool for smoother, safer climbs, especially for beginners or those working with delicate trees.

How to use a climbing swivel?

Climbing swivels prevent frustrating rope twists and keep your system smooth. Attach them between your rope bridge and anchor point, or directly to your harness for tether management. Remember, they don't magically untangle everything – you'll still need to manually twist your lines sometimes. But they'll significantly reduce tangles and keep your focus on the climb, not fighting knotted ropes!
